Lake Erie: June 23, 2010

A day of interesting things that show Mother Nature has a mind of her own and because of this, things can change quickly.

Port Stanley: East side – 10:15 AM. This photo was taken on the morning of June 16 and this is how the cliff looked last evening when I was there. It has looked so much the same for so long that I haven't photographed it for days. Following are photos of what it looks like now, with some images taken at other times for comparison. And remember - this was before the earthquake of this afternoon. These magnificent clay cliffs are unstable all on their own.

Port Stanley: East side – 10:15 AM.

Port Stanley: East side, Lake level – January 09 2010 - 4:45 PM. Before.

Port Stanley: East side, Lake level - After. Today at noon, through the mist. What is hard to convery is the huge mass of earth that has shifted.

OK – Not The Lake!

And if that wasn't interesting enough...

Port Stanley: Sunset Road – 1:30 PM. Spectacular and interesting, but very little rain to show for it.

And, of course, about 20 minutes after this, there was an earthquake. Centred near Ottawa, we just felt a bit of a tremble here - kind of fun. The really great part is that it was mild enough so we can say "kind of fun".
